The exhibition Xenoglossy takes us into the imaginary world of the contemporary Danish artist Julie Nord. Her skilful sketches, in Indian ink or watercolour, intrigue the wiewer with their mysterious subjects and their large format. Round-eyed little girls and weird animal creatures weave in and out of her images. Something threatening lurks behind the idyllic surface. She challenges our assumptions of the borderline between the innocent and the terrifying. Her pictorial idiom derives its inspiration from film art, children´s book illustrations and Gothic horror tales.
