Vanessa Baird, born in 1963, is one of Norway's leading contemporary artists, acclaimed for her distinctive and uncompromising works on paper. She is based in Oslo and trained at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo and the Royal College of Art in London. Baird's art is regularly exhibited internationally. In the fall of 2024, she had an extensive retrospective exhibition at the new Munch Museum in Oslo. She is represented in the collection of The Nordic Watercolour Museum and held a solo exhibition at the museum as early as 2002.
On Sunday 5 October, during the first day of the autumn exhibitions, the artist and museum director Bera Nordal will meet for an artist talk. What is important in Baird's artistry today, and what has changed during the more than 20 years since her last major exhibition at the museum?
