Autumn School Holiday, Inspiration: Britta Marakatt-Labba
Campfire Gathering
- –
- The Exhibition + Gråskärsbadet

info
Welcome to an atmospheric autumn evening as we gather around the fire to toast marshmallows and share stories. We'll be serving cinnamon buns, hot chocolate and, of course, marshmallows to roast over the fire.
Throughout history, there have been stories that were never written down but instead lived on as they were told from one person to another. These stories have been kept alive through conversation: around the campfire, at the dinner table, or perhaps on the journey home from football practice.
During our Campfire Gathering, we come together around the fire to explore and practise the tradition of oral storytelling. Together, we will talk about folktales, legends and the kinds of stories that may not always have been preserved in books, yet have always been a part of our lives.
Joining us are two invited guests, both experts in the stories and folklore of their local cultures. Annica Wennström is an author whose work draws on Sámi storytelling traditions, including the acclaimed Christmas television series Snow Dreams. Maria Johannessen will share stories from Tjörn and explore how the landscapes and traditions of Bohuslän find their way into local folklore.
The event is open to all ages and suitable for the whole family.
Free of charge, but advance booking is required. Places are limited.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
We will begin with a brief visit to the current exhibition, before heading to Gråskärsbadet just outside the museum, to enjoy some fika and gather around the campfire. We will be joined by Annica Wennström and Maria Johannessen, who will introduce us to Sámi and Tjörn storytelling traditions. Participants are warmly invited to share stories of their own.
Please dress warmly and consider bringing a seat pad if you'd like some extra comfort. We'll be serving cinnamon buns, hot chocolate and marshmallows, so please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.
