Grund / Emil Jensen

info
Anyone who has seen Emil captivate his audience over the years has experienced his completely unique blend of music and verbal artistry, seriousness and comedy, the personal and the political. Emil himself describes it as creating “pop music, poetry, stand-up comedy, and lie-down tragedy.”
To understand Emil’s versatility as an artist, the awards he has received offer some insight: he has been honoured with the Evert Taube Prize for his songwriting, the Gustav Fröding Prize for his poetry, the Karl Gerhard Prize for his performances, multiple environmental awards, and has been nominated for the Martin Luther King Prize for civil courage.
In recent years, Emil has toured with his distinctive performances to sold-out venues across the country – from Dramaten to Way Out West, from Ales Stenar in the south of Sweden to Kiruna in the north. In the summer of 2022, Emil undertook a much-noticed climate tour across Sweden, covering 4000 kilometres entirely by bike.
“In addition to telling small fictional and authentic stories and turning myself inside out in my songs, I often, particularly in my interludes, write and speak about issues that feel urgent, such as human rights, feminism, and sustainability.”
All this together creates the unique expression that has become entirely his own, where audiences and listeners are taken on a journey between melancholy and hope, serious global issues and comical personal stories, in a mix that leaves no one unaffected. It is with great joy that we present Emil Jensen as the first artist on our Grund stage in 2025!

GÅ PÅ GRUND! ('RUN AGROUND')
The concept behind "Grund" is produced by Tjörn Municipality and The Nordic Watercolour Museum. The idea is to offer a broad spectrum of music by exciting artists in an intimate setting at a great price. We believe in exciting encounters between the musician, audience and natural surroundings, where flashy stage shows are not allowed to get in the way of the music. And we believe that is an excellent ground on which to stand. / GERD, Alice Boman, Arvid Nero, Iiris Viljanen, Loney dear, Bror Gunnar Jansson, Christian Kjellvander, Kristofer Åström, Maja Francis, Franska Trion, Mattias Alkberg, Sophie Zelmani, José Gonzáles, El Perro Del Mar, Mikael Wiehe, Vasas Flora & Fauna, Jens Lekman, Joel Alme, Frida Hyvönen, Anna Järvinen, Marit Bergman, Hanna Järver, Edda Magnasson och Niki & the Dove
