Asger Jorn & Per Kirkeby
Asger Jorn and Per Kirkeby are two of Denmark’s most significant postwar artists. By focusing on watercolour and drawing, The Nordic Watercolour Museum brings forward an experimental dimension of their artistic practices. In these media, process, movement, and thought emerge as independent fields of investigation in which the energy, structure, and rhythm of the image could be explored and deepened. The selection includes works from key periods in each artist’s career: from Jorn’s experimental and spontaneous visual language of the 1940s to Kirkeby’s works of the 1980s and 1990s.
