On 11 2026 April, we're hosting the trade-in day Treasures & Trash at the museum.
Why is swapping a better idea than buying something new? By reusing pre-loved items, you reduce your environmental impact. Instead manufacturing new ones and throwing them away, recycling helps to conserve natural resources and reduce your waste. This is one of many climate-smart choices that contribute to a more sustainable society.
Here's how it works:
- Bring a maximum of ten items that you wish to swap. They should be in good condition, so that someone else will want to take them home. For each item you hand in, you get a trade-in ticket that you can exchange for something else.
- Items can also be handed in up to a week in advance at the museum’s reception during regular opening hours, regardless of whether you want to join the trade-in day or simply wish to contribute.
- For the first item you swap, you’ll receive a free one-day entry ticket for the museum’s exhibitions.
- Any items that don’t find a new home during the trade-in day will be donated second-hand shops.
We don't accept the following during the trade-in day day:
– Food or beverages
– Items too large to be carried by one person
– Living things (though plants are welcome!)
