Dorte Karrebæk trained to be a commercial illustrator. Since 1982 she has illustrated some 150 picture books, some penned by herself, others created together with others. Karrebæk’s images are mostly portrayals of moods and feelings rather than figurative depictions. She has been awarded numerous prizes for her works.
In the book Lille frøken Buks og de små sejre we meet Miss Buks, who is afraid of almost everything – the sky, the night, dogs, the sea, cars, and lots of other things. Step by step, she faces her fears and discovers that the world perhaps is not as dangerous as she thought.
