On the horizon
When the idea of a Nordic center for watercolour techniques was formulated, it was considered important that the museum should embrace both the traditional duties of display and preservation along with the new responsibilities inherent in a learning centre for stimulating development. In its first exhibition, the museum focuses on both of these common themes, the emphasis being on developments in Nordic art in the 20th century expressed through the medium of watercolour. The works have been selected in collaboration with the major national art museums of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, from where the artworks have also been loaned.
Participating artists: Lauri Anttila, Olav Christopher Jenssen, Staffan Hallström, Asgrimur Jònsson, Erling Enger, Frans Widerberg, Esther Helenius, Nils von Dardel, Siri Derkert, Olli Lyytikäinen, Reidun Tordhol, Ebba Carstensen, Asger Jorn, Hjörleifur Sigurðsson, Edvard Weie, Svavar Guðnason, Per Kirkeby and Jalmari Rukokoski
