What are your opening hours?

Our regular opening hours are 11 am–5 pm daily during the summer season and 11 am–4 pm, Tuesday to Sunday, during the autumn, winter and spring seasons. During the summer of 2026, we’re open daily at 11 am–5 pm until 6 September. Please note that the museum might be closed during change of exhibitions between seasons. The museum is always closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Click here to view all opening hours.

How much does it cost to visit the museum's exhibitions?

Can I get to the museum by public transport?

Yes. You can take the bus (Västtrafik) to Skärhamn. The nearest bus stop is Kommunhuset, Tjörn, about a 10–15 minute walk from the museum.

Where can I park?

There are 25 parking spaces and four accessible spaces outside the museum. Additional parking is available within walking distance along scenic routes along the way. Here you can find a map of nearby parking. More information about parking is available on the Tjörn Municipality website.

Can I charge my electric car nearby?

Yes. There are eight charging stations in the museum parking lot, where you can pay using the Wattif app. More information and locations of other nearby charging points can be found here.

How can I learn more about the exhibition?

The educational material varies, depending on which exhibition is on display. However, some products are more recurrent than others.When visiting, you’re always offered an information folder, free of charge.Guided tours (in Swedish) are included in the entrance fee and generally held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm.We usually produce an audioguide for the summer exhibitions, in Swedish and in English. This is always free to use with no extra cost.We often present some sort of introduction film for the current exhibition.

Can I bring my dog in the museum?

No. Due to allergy restrictions, pets are not permitted on the museum premises or in the guest studios. Exceptions are made for guide dogs accompanying visually impaired visitors.

Yes, but please do not use flash.

What am I not allowed to bring into the exhibition?

Food and drinks are not permitted in the exhibition. Backpacks are only permitted if they are carried by hand.If you're unsure whether you can bring a particular item into the exhibition, please ask a member of staff.

Do you have any permanent exhibition with the Museum Collection?

No.Instead, we continuously showcase selections from it. By working solely with temporary exhibitions, we are able to present a larger portion of our collection over time. Often, but not always, we display a selection from the collection alongside another exhibition during an exhibition period. You can read more about the collection here.

Can I book a guided tour for myself and my group?

Yes. We offer private guided tours for groups, including tours in English. We also offer digital guided tours that can be attended remotely.For more information, please contact jonte.nynas@akvarellmuseet.org.If you would like to join one of our free public guided tours, these are held on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm.

There's always something for both children and adults to discover at the museum.Discovery BagsBorrow a Discovery Bag and explore the exhibition in new and playful ways. Each bag contains a selection of tools and activities to enjoy together, and can be borrowed from beside the lift in the museum reception.Open StudioIn our Open Studio, both children and adults can try watercolour painting free of charge. Materials are provided, and staff are on hand to help if needed. During school holidays, we offer themed workshops and extended opening hours. Opening hours vary throughout the year. Space is limited. Please collect your ticket from the museum reception on the day of your visit. Advance booking is not available.Create on Your OwnOn the upper floor, you can enjoy creative activities at your own pace during the museum's opening hours. You'll also find the Konstpausen (“Art Pause”), where you can try watercolour pencils and drawing. The activities available upstairs vary depending on the current exhibition.Family EventsMany of the museum's events and activities are designed for families with children and younger people.
