Art Educator
Would you like to work at The Nordic Watercolour Museum? We are currently looking to fill an open position for a full-time art educator. If you believe in the concept of learning through art, you might be the one we are looking for. All details below.
Brief Description of the Organisation:
The Nordic Watercolour Museum is located in Skärhamn, on the island of Tjörn, 70 kilometres north of Gothenburg, and is operated as a foundation. Since its inauguration in 2000, the museum has explored the tradition of watercolour painting from the perspectives of contemporary and modern art. This is achieved through 6–8 exhibitions per year, as well as research, art education, and mediation. From day one, the museum has run an extensive educational programme. The museum works closely with the Municipality of Tjörn and offers activities throughout the Västra Götaland region, as well as the rest of the country.
Job Description:
You will be part of a museum staff consisting of 16 people. While we collaborate in a flexible working environment, you will also be planning and executing your tasks independently. A significant part of the position involves working with groups and engaging with children, young people, and adults in conversations about art and in workshop activities. As one of two educators at the museum, your main responsibility will be managing the museum's collaboration with schools. Your duties will also include project management, documentation, text production, planning, guiding tours, and communication. Evening and weekend work occurs.
Qualifications:
If you believe in the concept of learning through art, you are the person we are looking for. We require you to have a university degree in art history and/or artistic creation, as well as a genuine interest in contemporary art and educational development. You should have experience of working with groups and engaging with children, young people, and adults in both art conversations and in creative activities. Personal qualities such as responsiveness and teamwork skills are highly valued. You must be proficient in both written and spoken Swedish and English. Basic knowledge in image and video editing is necessary. Experience with digital methods of outreach is meritorious. Driving license is required.
