About the spring exhibitions in 2024

Process – On the Joy of Painting with Watercolour
Watercolour painting has a spontaneity and lightness that few other media possess. With an inquisitive eye, this exhibition returns to the very foundation of the medium, to find out what makes it unique, and what it is about watercolour that produces such a creative urge and fascination in those who delve into it. In the exhibition, we follow the creative process of five acclaimed artists and course leaders. With a generous, educational approach, underpinned by advanced technical skill, they share their watercolour secrets.

From the Museum Collection
Artists use watercolour in different ways and the strength of the medium lies in its versatility. The light, airy and spontaneous in some pictures, are replaced by the profound, dark and elaborate in other works. During the spring of 2024, we present a selection from the Museum Collection in parallel to the exhibition 'Process – On the Joy of Painting with Watercolour'.
