info
Artists of Tjörn is an independent group of professional artists, all resident and creative at Tjörn. At Nordiska Akvarellmuseet, they present an exhibition with the artists' best works straight from each studio. Among the techniques we find jewelry and marionettes as well as painting in watercolour, acrylic and oil on linen.
The motto of the group is: "Only when the work of art and craftsmanship is seen through the eyes of the visitor is it finished. Thank you in advance for completing our work by visiting the exhibition.”
Open daily at 11 am–5 pm during the period 18–28 May
Exhibition opening on 18 May at 1 pm–5 pm

Heike Ahrends
The artist writes: “My most impressive works are created through unintentional playfulness. They’re the result of years of daily practice. The surface of the paintings are as individual as the face of a person who has lived a long and happy life. The images are universal, greatly reduced poetic moments. My paintings remind of a landscape in the borderlands between an object-related style and abstracted image structures. I write poems with colour. The aim is to not let the audience go astray, instead let them find home within themselves.”
Anders Bodebeck
The artist writes: ": I´m a graphic designer and an artist. I work with letters in my works and have also developed my own typeface, Bodebeck, which is marketed by German Linotype. I have been a teacher in graphic form at HDK and held courses in calligraphy".
Christina Bolling
The artist writes: "My artistry is inspired by contemporary times and art history. I look for timeless elements in the processes of life, love, death and passages in time. The choice of material becomes an input to a new work. I like to work with recycled materials, paper and pigments. The images move in the borderland between reality and fictional worlds.”
Ulf Erixon
The artist writes: “In addition to providing an aesthetic experience, I want to convey important messages in my paintings. If they can make the viewer reflect on something and think further about a topic, then I feel satisfied. In my long career as an artist, I have always explored new methods, techniques and motif choices. Being an artist can be seen as a journey that never ends – curiosity and desire to experiment are my driving forces. In recent years, I’ve been trying to pay attention to how our planet is doing. Among other things, I have moved from the sea to land, to forest and land. There are many species that need our help.”
Sara Hansson
The artist writes: “I was educated in England as a textile artist. I work mainly with three-dimensional forms and figures, and for the most part, I work in textiles, paper and wood. I am totally fascinated by figures, by body language and how a static form has the ability to portray feelings and humour.”
Katarina Henriksson
In my studio in Skärhamn on Tjörn, I work with silversmithing and jewelery in unique pieces and smaller series. I prefer to work in silver, but preferably with elements of other metals or materials depending on expression and function. I find it satisfying to work carefully with the craft and let the process take the time it needs, and I appreciate the small format. The starting point in my work is plants, both for purely formal reasons and because of their individual meanings. I translate my observations of plants into jewelry and utility items where widely different species are built together to form new plants, given new contexts and where weeds can play the leading role.
Yvonne Karlsson
The artist writes: “I’m active as a graphic artist and painter out on Berga Hakenäset.”
Marie Kristiansson
Susanne Lager
The artist writes: "Colour is my music. Bohuslän's changing nature inspires me, as does art history. Inner and outer landscapes grow and time stands still for a little while in creation.”
Mona Raotma-Karlsson
The artist writes: "My name is Mona Raotma-Karlsson and I live on Dyrön, which is just outside Rönnäng. I mostly paint in watercolour and I paint nature and people. I like to paint with flowing colours where different structures and effects create atmosphere, depth and feeling in the image."
Elisabeth Rosenlund
The artist writes: "I paint pictures in egg oil tempera and oil or mixed. My artistic business is at Klädesholmen, Tjörn.”
Emelie Wijk Lundberg
The artist writes: “I work with stylish jewelry in silver and gold. Nature is my source of inspiration and creative battery. I design and create unique products together with my customers.”
