Ari Laitinen
- Finland, 1945–2026

Ari Laitinen was born in Finland but has lived and worked in Sweden since 1968. His paintings reflect the fascination with rugged landscapes and raw nature. Cliffs and skerries, vastness of the sea and breaking waves have a special place in his art. The technically driven painting conveys the feeling of the unstoppable forces of nature. Other motifs in Laitinen’s work include forest views and still lifes with flowers. Laitinen has studied art on his own and was trained in watercolour painting by the Hungarian watercolour master Nàndor Mikola and in Chinese painting by Lim Eow in Thailand. He has exhibited in Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Germany, Spain, France and the USA. He has also created an altarpiece for the church in Kaduna in Nigeria, album covers and illustrations.
