Finnbogi Pétursson
- Iceland, 1959

Finnbogi Pétursson’s imagery can be perceived as an emotional journey of discovery through the senses. The connection between nature and science runs as a theme through his conceptual creations. Pétursson captures the play of water, flames, light and shadow in his work. But above all, sound and image interact in his evocative pieces. Iceland’s geological conditions produce a fascinating soundscape in nature. Pétursson uses these aural phenomena in his work. They can be presented as intimate sound drawings or radiate through the exhibition space as large-scale, complex sound installations. His work presents meditative comprehensive experiences, where organic and spiritual elements go hand in hand. Finnbogi Pétursson studied at Iceland Academy of the Arts in Reykjavik and at the Jan van Eyck Academie in the Netherlands.
