Joachim Carlsson
- Sweden, 1966

Signs and questions about language are usually at the center of Joachim Carlsson’s creation. It is usually about different expressions of community and exclusion as well as opportunities and limitations in communication between people. Carlsson usually works in long series, where he presents cracks between the individual and society. Childhood memories come to the surface in the form of stylized characters and figures, which are taken out of their original and put into new, more anonymous contexts. Carlsson’s palette is colourful and he works in different techniques. He has also created many public, sculptural works where the playful motifs from the painting take on a more monumental format.
