Karin Wikström is both an accomplished drawer and a painter with an interesting colour palette. She narrates with picture and fills her work with animal-like creations strongly reminding us of fairytales. Rabbits, pigs and insects reappear. Just like old fables, Wikström’s art portrays human vulnerability, passions and dreams. Each image is like a picture puzzle. Underneath the absurd humour lies a deep melancholy. There exists both dark undertones with sexual innuendo, and a charged artfulness. Karin Wikström studied at Valand School of Fine Art in the 1990s. She lives and works in Gothenburg.
