Lars Eje Larsson
- Sweden, 1954
Lars Eje Larsson is a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art and at KV Konstskola in Gothenburg and has an art teacher’s degree from the Umeå University. After qualifying, Larsson worked as a teacher alongside his painting but has been working full-time as an artist since 1992. He made the transition from oil to watercolour painting in the late 1970s. He started working in the watercolour technique after discovering Andrew Wyeth’s watercolours, which contains not only contrasts and blackness, but also an interesting combination of dry brush technique and wet-on-wet. The ”fearlessness” of the watercolour technique also made it particularly exciting to work with. Larsson has a unrestrained approach to watercolour and enjoys experimenting with techniques such as monotypy and tools like spray bottles, hair-dryers and more.
