The Icelandic Love Corporation
- Iceland, 1996

The artist group The Icelandic Love Corporation (ILC) was established in 1996 by Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir (1973), Jóní Jónsdóttir(1972) and Eirún Sigurdardóttir (1971). Icelandic folk traditions, mysticism and magic are important ingredients in their activities, where the playful and inexplicable meet. Their works of art contain a wide range of expressions, often in the form of multi-artworks with performance as a guiding star. The photograph The Eggs is part of the documentation from a performance work carried out in Iceland in 2004, where the artists moved in the landscape dressed in crocheted costumes and, among other things, boiled eggs in a hot spring. The crocheted suit then returns in a collaboration with singer Björk, who dresses in the group’s creations on the cover photographs for the album Volta in 2007. Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir was educated at the Iceland University of the Arts in Reykjavik and the Pratt University in New York, where Jóní Jónsdóttir was educated at the Iceland University of the Arts, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Eirún Sigurdardóttir at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and the Berlin University of the Arts.
