Watercolour or bronze? For Anne Koskinen the material is not central. In her art she combines the idea-based with a great respect for the artistic craftsmanship, regardless of which technique she chooses to work in. The series VerLust (Siefmütterchen), roughly translated as “Loss (Pansies)” in English, is based on flowers. Each sheet depicts 8 pansies. Naked and stripped, they are ready to be studied before our eyes, as specimens in a laboratory environment. At the same time, the composition with the petals turning downwards and the narrow stalks upwards creates a feeling that the flowers slowly, like raindrops, are falling downwards. Anne Koskinen has a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts as wells as from the Master of Fine Arts Program at the Karlsruhe University of Art and Design in Karlsruhe in Germany. She has been active and exhibited since the mid-1990s.
