Jukka Korkeila
- Finland, 1968

Jukka Korkeila lives and works in Helsinki and Berlin. He had studied architecture before he started painting. Korkeila has mainly been noted for his flowy, impasto painting style. His image world is daring and steadfastly honest. He often turns to the provocative, ecofriendly and subversive. Erotic undertones are never taboo here. In his art, Korkeila has developed a very special theme, where he continues to explore, among other things, the male sexuality of modern society. In the works, alternate forms of naked, powerful male figures with round, drooping stomachs and exposed genitalia return. The powerful imagery is characterized by a peculiar humor. Colours are often strong and musty, while the image composition is bold and unusual. Korkeila also challenges the viewer’s gaze by camouflaging borrowed images in his own works.
