Leiken Vik lives and works in Trondheim. She works in various media, such as painting, photography and drawing. She also makes installations. Vik has become known for her large, site-specific public art, which she has produced in collaboration with architects. Technical variety and experimentation with materials is the engine behind Vik’s work. Colour, form and format are used as instruments to convey light, shadow, figurations and abstract patterns. She also blurs the boundaries between painting and film. She plays with our perception of reality and illusion. In the end, you are not even sure what is real film and what is genuine watercolor painting. The result is a unique and powerful meeting between two completely different media.
