artist
Marjatta Nuoreva
- Finland, 1944–2021

Marjatta Nuoreva’s main artistic medium was graphics. However, she painted in parallel with artistic techniques like watercolour. The graphic arts are about precision and persistence, while the watercolour stands for freedom and resolution. Recurring themes in Marjatta Nuoreva’s art are trees, rock formations and stones. The seasons change. Lighting conditions alter. Although it may be a single landscape and a few details, the moods can change depending on wether the subject was made with a graphic needle or with a soft brush and pigment dissolved in water. However, each time life and its cyclically changing nature are celebrated. Marjatta Nuoreva was educated at the Aalto School of Art, Design and Architecture in Helsinki.
