Peter Frie
- Sweden, 1947

Natural experiences and dream material blend together and become one in Peter Fries’s painting. The artist works consciously with the romantic sense of nature and has made himself known for his extensive, light-drenched landscape views. At the same time, the works are an imaginary map of a fantasy world, where all landmarks are real. Outdoors, Frie works with quick sketches and impressions. Their task is to nourish the artist’s eye and memory. The works shift from diminutive postcard formats to large panoramic images. As if it were recurring visions, the large paintings are completed in the artist’s studio. Created out of memory, they are metaphors for an inner world beyond the walls of reality.
