artist
Tiina Laitanen
- Finland, 1971

Flowers are Tiina Laitanen’s great passion. Her fascination for nature and an interest in culture and visual arts from the Far East, China and Japan have been a driving force in her creation. She often uses artificial plants, which she likes to depict as if they were alive. Laitanen has studied older flower paintings and old scientific illustrations and postcards with botanical motifs. Her artistic idiom contains a lot of humor and a deliberate attraction to kitsch which becomes a stylistic approach. Tiina Laitanen was educated at the Helsinki Upper Secondary School of Visual Arts, the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki and the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, Norway.
