Tone Myskja
- Norway, 1961

Tone Myskja works with art and video as visual and sculptural elements in exhibitions, concerts and stage performances, moving between different artistic disciplines and drawing inspiration from her interest in music, dance, theatre, literature, painting and sculpture. Thematically, her work relates to the complexity of language, identity and perception. In her watercolours, Tone Myskja creates patterns and structures. The works are then photographed and assembled into complex installations. Her work with the poetic name Ning consists of several units, sparked by a passage in David Grossmann’s novel See Under: Love, where he uses the term “ning” to describe the forces at play between salmon in a shoal. The salmon are individuals but can react as one single body, in response to danger or other needs. They are also guided by the urge to return to their birthplace to mate and then die. Tone Myskja is educated at the National School of Crafts and Art and the National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and The Slade School of Fine Art in London.
