Sol LeWitt, born in Hartford, Connecticut, in 1928, ranks among the most significant of contemporary artists. Taking as his starting point the architecture and shape of the exhibition galleries he then proceeds to produce a quite unique exhibition. Working from basic sketches that he has made especially for this museum, he creates wall frescoes and drawings to fit the space. The exhibition is complemented by works on paper from recent years. The catalogue includes some of LeWitt’s texts on conceptual art from the ‘50s and ‘60s.
The exhibition is the first major one-person exhibition of Sol LeWitt’s wall paintings and drawings to be shown in the Nordic countries.
