Welcome to spend the autumn break with us at The Nordic Watercolour Museum!
As autumn colours burst and the air becomes crisper, we open our doors for a creative and inspiring autumn break week. Throughout the week, we have activities for all ages. Bring your family, friends, or come by yourself – here's something for everyone!
Let the imagination flow in our Autumn Holiday Workshop, where we draw inspiration from the current exhibition and bring nature straight into the creative process. Leaves, plants, and twigs will move into the studio and become part of our artistic materials as we paint with the vibrant colours of autumn. The workshop is open 29 October–3 November at 11 am–3 pm. No pre-booking is required, but seats are limited. Free of charge for everyone!

Want to experience art in a whole new way? Join us for an exciting flashlight tour on 30 October at 4 pm! After the museum closes for the day, we’ll sneak into the dark premises and discover the art in the beam of a flashlight. Shadows bring the artworks to life in ways you've never seen before. The tour is free, and no pre-booking is required. An unforgettable way to view the art – if you dare!

In addition to our autumn school break activities, you can always visit the exhibition on your own during the museum's opening hours, Tuesday–Sunday at 11 am–4 pm. Are you under the age of 26? Then entry is free! Also, take the opportunity to borrow our Discovery Bags, filled with fun tools like magnifying glasses and hourglasses, helping you see the art from new perspectives. Public tours are held on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at no extra cost.
Currently, we are presenting the exhibitions Christine Ödlund / This Garden & its Spirit and The Art of Becoming Alfie / Sketches for the Books about Alfie Atkins. The autumn school break is often called “the reading break” in Sweden, and you’ll also find opportunities to enjoy a book at the museum – especially in the Alfie exhibition, featuring works by his creator, Gunilla Bergström. Upstairs, you can also try your hand at drawing a self-portrait, inspired by the artworks from our collection presented here.

The evening will feature a discussion between author Mattias Hagberg, originally from Skärhamn and Mollösund, Ann-Sofi Noring, former Deputy Director of Moderna Museet, and Ord&Bild editor Jonatan Habib Engqvist. Before the talk, a guided tour of current exhibitions is held. (In Swedish)

Ödlund’s paintings, sculptures and video works remind us that nature is cyclical. The exhibition at The Nordic Watercolour Museum offers us the opportunity to reconsider our relationship with nature and plants and opens up a dialogue about the limits of what we see and experience.
