Socratic dialogue: The museum as a time capsule
This event has passed

info
What will today look like tomorrow? This thought-provoking conversation takes its starting point in the museum's ongoing exhibition. Together, we reflect on and talk about how the museum contributes to shaping the future's perception of how the world looked during the first quarter of the 21st century.
During the dialogue, participants are given the opportunity to share their own reflections and thoughts on how museums can function as time capsules, through the preservation and transmission of historical moments and cultural expressions. We reason about how institutions create a bridge between the past, the present, and the future – but also who or what decides what is worth preserving.
The talk is open to anyone interested and is free of charge, but since it takes place inside the exhibition, an entrance ticket is required. The occasion is led by Linnéa Axelsson and Simone Frankel of The Nordic Watercolour Museum.
TIP! Feel free to join a guided tour of the exhibition before the discussion. Click here to read more.

About
Socratic dialogues
A Socratic dialogue is a form of discussion where the participants explore and question their ideas, beliefs and knowledge through open and probing questions. The idea of the conversation method is for those who participate to gain a deeper understanding of a subject, and critical thinking is encouraged through dialogue and reflection. The term "Socratic dialogue" (or "Socratic method") comes from the ancient Greek philosopher Socrates, who used the method to explore moral and philosophical questions.
