A collaboration between AiC (Artist in Coexistence) and The Nordic Watercolour Museum during GIBCA Extended 2025 .
You are invited to take part over two days in two different locations, where we will discover something new together – through experiences that one cannot be prepared for in advance. You are welcome just the way you are. Curiosity is what matters most; previous experience is irrelevant. Step into wordless landscapes on Orust and Tjörn to explore alternative methods of dialogue, between islands.
We will gather to explore how we can meet and engage in dialogue across our differences, shifting perspectives, and varying needs. What role can conversation play in imagining new ways of living and taking responsibility for the more-than-human world? And which voices emerge when we listen to the sounds of the sea and forest?
Welcome to a weekend that combines inspirational examples of how dialogue can be conducted, bridging resistance and becoming a source of vision and deep change, with hands-on exercises that invite you to try out new ways of conversing and listening.

Participation on both days is essential for all attendants. Please note that one session will take place at AiC (Orust), the other at The Nordic Watercolour Museum (Tjörn). The itinerary is shaped and led by writer and educator Pernilla Glaser.

Pernilla Glaser is an educator, writer and therapist. She has extensive experience in creating spaces for dialogue and has collaborated with several universities as a teacher of conversational methodology. She is the founder of Salong Krångel – a platform for interdisciplinary knowledge development around complexity, in collaboration with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden. Pernilla also curates the Future Making Academy at Malmö University, a reading and reflection circle focused on social change. In September, the handbook 'Att läsa för att rädda världen' (“Reading to Save the World”), based on this work, will be published. She is also releasing a new book, 'Försök till tröst' (“Attempts at Comfort”), in autumn 2025.

AiC (Artist in Coexistence) is a residency and knowledge platform for artistic exploration of relationships and coexistence from a posthumanist perspective, for creatives of all artistic disciplines. Seasonal residencies attract artists from around the world to Orust for artistic renewal, while public events ripple out knowledge into the local community and region.

Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA) is a contemporary art project taking place every two years in Gothenburg, Sweden. Each biennial consists of several major exhibitions. This year, in 2025, the title is “a hand that is all our hands combined". In times of war, polarization and authoritarian tendencies, the biennial aims to investigate how art can facilitate dialogue and reflection and make resistance possible. Can we think beyond Us and Them? How can we act from a spirit of solidarity? And how do we preserve artistic freedom in the face of rhetoric characterized by exclusion?

GIBCA Extended is a network and public programme that has developed around the biennial since 2013. The network brings together the local and regional art scene in Västra Götaland. Its participants – individual artists, artist groups, galleries and art centres – create their own programmes and exhibitions during GIBCA, which deepen and provide new perspectives on the biennial’s themes. The Nordic Watercolour Museum has been part of GIBCA Extended since the very beginning.

The event is led by Cristian Quinteros Soto, artist-in-residence at The Nordic Watercolour Museum in 2025. Participation is free of charge, but pre-registration is required.
11 OCT 3.00 PM & 12 OCT 3.00 PM • On two occasions, The Nordic Watercolour Museum presents video works by artist-in-residence Cristian Quinteros Soto. In his practice, Quinteros Soto delves into collective experiences, focusing on themes such as migration, in-betweenness, and care. Through interventions, performances and workshops, he explores how intimate encounters can be sustained, documented, and facilitated in public spaces.
