info
The Nordic Watercolour Museum and Tjörnslöjd invite you to a shared craft session in the exhibition with Britta Marakatt-Labba at the museum! Take inspiration from the artist’s embroidered worlds and of different materials, and let that inspiration find its way into your own work in the company of others.
We’ll begin with a brief look at the art, either together or on our own. Then, we settle down inside the exhibition to work on our crafts among the artworks. Bring your own materials for whatever you’d like to work on, whether it’s embroidery, knitting or fly tying – all techniques and forms of expression are welcome. We’ll provide the art and the company.
We’ll meet in the museum entrance at 4 pm.
Admission free, no pre-booking required.
PRACTICAL DETAILS
Please bring your own materials. If you need good lighting when working, it may be a good idea to bring your own lamp, such as a head torch or reading light, as the lighting in the room where we’ll be working may be somewhat dim.
We will be sitting inside the exhibition as we create. Therefore, food and drinks are not permitted.
Since we will be in the exhibition after the museum has closed for the day, it's important that you arrive on time.
About
TJÖRNSLÖJD
Tjörnslöjd is an association founded in 1982, open to anyone with an interest in traditional crafts and handcrafts. To share knowledge and encourage an interest in crafts, the association organises an annual summer exhibition and a Christmas market, among other activities. The association’s aim is to foster a love of making things by hand – and the joy and pride that come from creating something yourself. Through knowledge of materials, techniques, reuse and traditional hand skills, we can contribute to a more sustainable society. Other activities include creative gatherings, workshops and craft activities for children. Tjörnslöjd also has a shop next door to The Nordic Watercolour Museum, which is open by appointment.

Britta Marakatt-Labba
Britta Marakatt-Labba has gained international recognition for her extraordinary embroideries. Her drawings and watercolours, however, are almost entirely unknown – works she has kept out of the public eye until now. These delicate, sometimes spontaneous and always evocative images, created largely without any intention of being exhibited publicly, are thematically closely related to her embroideries. The exhibition at The Nordic Watercolour Museum focuses on Britta Marakatt-Labba’s works on paper, which are being shown publicly for the first time. This opens up an entirely new perspective on her artistic practice.
