The Nordic Watercolour Museum
25 years
The Nordic Watercolour Museum warmly welcomes you to the opening of this summer's big exhibition: Animal Kingdom .
The exhibition displays works by 14 artists and artist collectives from five centuries. It includes some of art history’s most celebrated illustrators from the 17th to the 20th century, in dialogue with contemporary artists who delve deep into the classical heritage. Together, they illuminate our changing understanding of the forces that shape the natural world and our understanding of our own existence.
The exhibition presents historical works by the family Rudbeck (17th–18th centuries), Maria Sibylla Merian (1647–1717), Barbara Regina Dietzsch (1706–1783), John James Audubon (1785–1851), Magnus & Wilhelm von Wright (1805 –1868 and 1810–1887), Ernst Haeckel
(1834–1919) and contemporary works by Walton Ford, Mark Dion, Christine Ödlund, Astrid Svangren, Carlos Amorales, Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg and teamLab.
