Art and nature are siblings, branches of the same tree, writes John Fowles in The Tree (1978). This approach fits well with the creative work of Andreas Eriksson. Nature is his constant source of inspiration and trees have long been one of his recurring themes. Andreas Eriksson received his training at the Konsthögskolan in Stockholm. His artistic range is wide, working in painting, photography, sculpture and graphic art. This was well displayed for instance at the 2011 Venice Biennial, where he and Fia Backström together represented Sweden. When confronted with his watercolours we are reminded of how small we are in comparison to nature and how distant art can sometimes appear. The smallest woodland grove and the least pretentious work of art hide and guard their secrets.
