China's Changing LandscapeContemporary Chinese Ink

Painting in Indian ink is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of Chinese art. Interest in this ancient art form – at present undergoing a renaissance – has never been stronger. Today’s youthful generation of artists seek the inspiration of their roots, follow the old techniques and experiment with them to find new modes of expression. This exhibition shows how the ancient but still vibrant patterns are reinterpreted, renewed and exploited in fresh creative contexts and techniques.
Participating artists: Ah Xian, Cai Guo-Giang, Li Huayi, Li Jin, Qiu Zhijie, Samson Young, Wang Dongling, Wucius Wong, Xu Bing, Yang Jiechang, Yang Yongliang and Yuan Jai
The exhibition is a production i collaboration with Professor Mark Johnson of San Francisco State University.
