Hip hip hooray, The Nordic Watercolour Museum is celebrating 25 years!
On 14 June from 11 am to 5 pm, we’re hosting a jubilee celebration bursting with colour and brushes. Everyone’s invited as we fill (almost) every corner with creative workshops – just as it should be on a day when watercolour takes centre stage. Arrive whenever you want and stay as long as you like.

Birthday Workshop

Watercolour on the go

Drop by one of the museum’s guest studios and grab a watercolour kit to enjoy some outdoor painting.
Doodling on the Rocks
Bockholmen, outdoors 11.00 am–5.00 pm
Use the islet of Bockholmen itself as your canvas as we paint the cliffs with eco-friendly clay paint.
Guided Jubilee Tours
The Exhibition / 11.30–12.00 am / 1.00–1.30 pm / 2.00–2.30 pm / 3.00–3.30 pm
The tours are held in Swedish and are approximately 30 minutes long.

Double the reason to celebrate – it’s also Vatten Restaurang & Kafé’s birthday! Treat yourself to a shrimp sandwich and a drink for only 195 SEK. Cheers to that!
Next to the museum you'll find Celia Wine & Bar, which on 14 June is offering free coffee and cake to all visitors coming from the museum’s jubilee celebration!

Shop
New arrivals and great offers await in the shop during the Jubilee Party! The museum will also be handing out a few birthday gifts for those who’d like to take something special home.
On busy event days like this jubilee celebration, the museum car park can fill up quickly. We therefore recommend carpooling or using public transport if possible. Västtrafik buses stop at the “Kommunhuset Tjörn” bus stop, just a short walk from the museum. Tjörn also offers beautiful cycling routes for those who prefer to travel on two wheels, and there is a bicycle parking rack just outside the museum entrance.
If you still need to come by car, there is a car park next to the museum with 25 spaces, including eight with electric vehicle charging stations, and four accessible parking spots. Additional parking is available within a 5–10 minute walk from the museum. Click here to see a map of nearby parking areas. Current Exhibition / Welcome to a world filled with pattern. The exhibition offers a new perspective on the watercolour medium by exploring its crucial role in the development of design, and celebrates watercolour’s unique contribution to pattern-making and visual expression.
Current Exhibition / When the Nordic Watercolour Museum opened 25 years ago, the long-term work began to build an art collection based on watercolour techniques. During the summer, a selection from the collection is on display.
The celebration is presented in collaboration with Vatten Restaurang & Kafé, the Museum's Friends Association and Tjörn Municipality.
