On the horizon

The exhibition with Helene Schjerfbeck at The Nordic Watercolour Museum highlights the artist's work from the early 20th century – a turning point in Schjerfbeck's career. During this period, watercolour played a particularly important role in the development of her art.

Bodil KaalundPictures from the Bible
In 1993, a magnificent edition of the Bible was published in Danish. For the work, illustrations in watercolour were commissioned from the artist Bodil Kaalund. The exhibition shows the original illustrations and a collection of paintings on the same theme.

Line BergsethLilium
The installation Light Field comprises two hundred white, fragrant lilies, illuminated as if by magic each in its own glass bottle. In a quick study, her painting may resemble botanical illustrations. t a first glance her paintings can seem to resemble botanical illustrations, but a closer look reveals that every picture is a portrait of a unique and individual plant which – each on its own terms – has been formed by the place, the time and the climate in which it has grown.

Salvador Dali
The exhibition displays watercolours and drawings loaned from the Fundacio Gala-Salvador Dalí and the Teatre-Museu Dalí in Figueres, Spain. Most of the works date from the 1940s when Dalí spent time in the US.
