news

Every summer, The Nordic Watercolour Museum produces an audio guide for its current exhibitions – a tool for visitors seeking an in-depth exploration of the art. Summer 2026 is no exception, but this year the guide has taken on a new form. The museum's art educators, Jonte Nynäs and Renée Tan, tell us more.
– What is new about the 2026 audio guide compared with previous years?
This year's audio guide is, above all, a guide to experiencing art in new ways. We call it a “Guided Experience”. Through prompts and guidance, we aim to spark thoughts and emotions and open up new ways of engaging with the art. The prompts may, for example, ask you to focus on your attention and presence, or on making emotional connections through exploration.
– What has the process of creating the new guide looked like behind the scenes?
Over the past year, we have actively explored new ways of working with both physical and sensory experiences, as well as ways of learning through the body rather than solely through the mind. Among other sources, we drew inspiration from the book 100 Jorn eksperimenter vi kan lave derhjemme ved køkkenbordet (“100 Jorn Experiments We Can Do at Home Around the Kitchen Table”) and from the work of the National Gallery Singapore.
– What are your hopes for how visitors will use the audio guide?
We hope this audio experience will guide visitors into the art, allowing plenty of room for their own experiences and interpretations. We want it to encourage museum-goers to move from passive viewing to active discovery.
The audio guide is available on the museum's website in both English and Swedish . You can listen to it on your smartphone or tablet.

This year's audio guide focuses on opening up new ways of experiencing art. For more in-depth information about the artists and artworks, please refer to the wall texts and the complimentary exhibition leaflet provided during your visit. The exhibition also features an introductory film (in Swedish with English subtitles).
In the museum shop, you can purchase a comprehensive exhibition catalogue (350 SEK), featuring texts by Museum Director Bera Nordal and the exhibition's curator Per Jonas Storsve, as well as contributions from Jacob Wamberg, Charlotte Christensen, Marie-José van de Loo, Lucas Haberkorn, Peter Laugesen and Per Kirkeby.
We also offer free guided tours of the exhibition several times a week (in Swedish). Tours take place every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2.00 pm and are included in the admission ticket.
Of course, you are always warmly welcome to speak with a member of staff if you have any questions or would like to discuss the exhibition further with someone.
We look forward to welcoming you to the museum!
