Lectures
Please note that the lecture will be held in English.
Inspired by The Nordic Watercolour Museum's concept of water, pigment and paper, this online lecture focuses on how a museum can function as a learning space from three perspectives: Medium ('Water'), Substance ('Pigment') and Basic Structures ('Paper').
On a meso level, the educational role of museums as platforms for broader learning is reflected through theoretical approaches within the context of practice. How can a museum function as a learning space in a deeper sense? And what does this imply for the micro level of the individual positions in the institutions? The lecture examines the reciprocities and relations between the art, the artists and the audiences as well as the art educators, the artists and the curators. On a macro level, it reflects on how a learning institution opens up the role of art and of museums in today’s world, and how cultural institutions can operate within, and contribute to, a wider context.
The lecture will take place online via Teams, free of charge.

About
What do brain research, AI and school have to do with an art museum? Can a museum have an impact beyond what is inside its walls? We present a series of digital anniversary lectures where we meet experts who research completely different things than art. Together we are getting closer to the answer to the question of what the role of the art museum is in a broader context.
